Dear Cikgu Saw,

First of all, thank you for teaching, coaching and assisting my daughter since secondary 2. To me, there is only two things needed to be a great teacher, and you have it. To me, you are an effective teacher because you never stops looking for ways to be more and more capable. Not only that, you are caring, warm and lovable. You know that a child cannot learn unless they know that the teacher cares about him or her.

Even years later, my daughter still remembers you, she told us that she remembers you the most as you are the one who really cared about her among all the teachers she had met. You have helped my daughter to learn as well as enhance the quality of her lives. You provided the most sincerest form of teaching which is listening, caring and loving. You have demonstrated your care and love both implicitly through your body language and explicitly through what you say.

In my opinion, high expectation has nothing to do with getting A's in class, finishing college or making a lot of money. These are products or end results of life. High expectation has to do with attitude, and it is this that gets us the A's in class and helps us to finish college. When significant teacher like you use significant words and actions, you increase the likelihood of impacting positive behaviours to students. This is exactly what happen to my daughter. You have impacted her positively in life.

Thank you for coaching her in achieving 8A's in SPM. You are definitely the most significant person in my daughter's life.

Thank you,

Dr Ana

I took Cambridge English CAE in 2014 at Pusat Bimbingan Saw and Cikgu Saw taught me. I obtained Distinction for the exam. As I am unable to thank him personally for helping and teaching me, I would like to take this opportunity to write a review for his teaching excellence. First of all, I would like to thank him for making me falling in love with the subject English.

To me, Cikgu Saw is very special. He is expressive. His ideas would change the monotonous schedule of the teaching and I just love learning from him. Cikgu Saw has innovativeness as he would dare to go off track so that his pupils are on track. Cikgu Saw's innovativeness always introduces new ideas, he is different and he treat each subject in a unique way. He always bring in freshness to the class.

Cikgu Saw is also very interactive. He always empower his students to learn the subject and to interact more to develop their communication skill. By being interactive, Cikgu Saw created opportunities for the students where they would be communicating with each other and to develop their skills in English.

After taking classes from Cikgu Saw, I learned to be different and think more independently. To me, Cikgu Saw is an outstanding teacher because he understood the teacher – student relationship, he has positive qualities like patience, tolerance, and passion for teaching.

As a final year student at University of Sydney, I believe and would dare to review that Cikgu Saw has a deep knowledge and understanding of English language teaching with an advanced blend of theory and practice that makes him a professional Cambridge English teacher in Penang.

For all the parents and students in Penang which would like to improve their English, Cikgu Saw is definitely the teacher you should look for. I strongly recommend him to everyone. Don't judge him as ordinary because he can and always do deliver the best out of everyone. Once again, thank you for making me the best of who I can be.

Sincerely,

From

When my son completed his SPM 8 years ago with flying colours, I was so delighted that I could not sleep for days. Today, he is working as an engineer in INTEL. Till recently, I found out that the real reasons behind his success was not his intelligence, but rather was his tutor, Cikgu Saw. My son told me that Cikgu Saw has several consistent factors that continuously make him a successful tutors, who routinely improve student academic performance and increase students' self-efficacy.

Therefore, I would really like to share to everyone about him because he changes my son's life into a very positive ones.

According to my son, Cikgu Saw is a very successful tutors because he builds strong, personal relationships with his students. Cikgu Saw fill a different role than teachers and parents, therefore puts him in a unique position to support students. I believe that personal relationships are foundational to student success because the more connected a student feels to his or her tutor, the more the tutor creates trust and respect, which is an essential ingredients for students to learn well. Cikgu Saw listens and spends time building a relationship with his or her student, so that he can personalize the learning, incorporate connections to the student's interests, teach to the student's strengths and minimize the student's weaknesses.

To me, Cikgu Saw is a truly successful tutor because he can make learning real, relevant and rigorous. He is an experts in his academic content because he knows the subject's concepts, ideas and problems inside out.

Thank you very much for all the dedication given to my son and other students. Indeed, I am fortunate enough to have sent my son to him. I would like to wish him success. To me, he is a teaching celebrity in Penang. To anyone who is reading my review, Cikgu Saw is someone you should meet and learn from as he is an extraordinary example of a successful tutor.

It has been 5 years since my children completed their SPM examinations. I was happy to be able to write a review for this humble yet great teacher, who most students called him Cikgu Saw.

Penang is result-oriented. We have overbearing emphasis on grades and paper qualifications. Having great good grades will open up more opportunities to their next progression. We are labelled as “kiasu”. But really, the society has low tolerance for mistakes and failures which shaped us to become so risk-averse.

My children has performed very well in their SPM thanks to their great tuition teacher 'Cikgu Saw'. Well he may look ordinary but deep down he is an expert in teaching. Both my children are currently in University of Melbourne thanks to him.

Cikgu Saw is a great tutor because he would spend hours to read through materials from various schools and sources, and sieve out the best content and methods and repackage into a fresh note for students. According to my children, he would plan his lesson and continuously think of different styles of delivering the same concepts according to the varying learning cognition of students. That is not including the time used to mark tuition assignment, giving feedbacks to parents, selecting a personalised test questions for students and time taken to give students counselling on their problems.

Hence, parents like me are very fortunate to have met him and have him to guide both my children. Again I would say again, Cikgu Saw, you are the best and I advised any parents who is reading my review to send their children to him. He is indeed a great teacher.

Sincerely,

Dr Cheah (Pantai Hospital)

Pusat Bimbingan Saw is one of Penang’s leading academic and tutorial service providers with 11 years of history. This are some of the reasons that convince us that Pusat Bimbingan Saw is not just another tutorial service provider, but is truly a notch above the rest.

Students learn better when lessons are taught by a mentor more than a teacher, and that's a concept Pusat Bimbingan Saw embodies. Pusat Bimbingan Saw prides itself on selecting only the brightest and most passionate teachers, who are keenly attuned to their students’ strengths and weaknesses, and play a key role in nurturing and encouraging them to dream big and reach for the stars.

In short, I can conclude that Pusat Bimbingan Saw offers value for money in so many ways such as the number of tuition hours, the background and experience of the teachers, the strong curriculum, the simple classroom environment, and the small class sizes.

My children has benefited everything the school had offered and had perform very well at their PT3 and SPM examinations. I would strongly recommend Pusat Bimbingan Saw to anyone in Penang who loves and cares about their children.

My son has encountered great difficulty in math especially in SPM where he found the problem-solving sums complicated and tedious, causing him to lose confidence. Math is a major subject and with his overall score, it has caused much anxiety especially he was undergoing SPM. There are lots of tutors available for math but getting the best one for your kid is still a tricky process. We are glad that Cikgu Saw has the expertise in the subject area and impressive credentials in the subject which has effectively given my son a much needed boost in his grades. Cikgu Saw's familiarity in the subject is important with the ability to relate to my son is just as critical as well. Math is very complex and your child needs someone who can explain the subject to the child in a way that he deems simple, fun and easy to understand.

Thank you Cikgu Saw for your constant encouragement and patience teaching in assisting my son obtaining an A in Math for his SPM!

I totally agree with you.

Under Cikgu Saw’s guidance throughout the past 2 years, I was able to breeze through my SPM Science journey with ease. I always found myself a few steps ahead of my peers with the help of Cikgu Saw’s comprehensive notes and in-depth explanation of every chapter. School tutorials and tests became very manageable.

Cikgu Saw delivers lessons in a way that instils in me passion for science. Every lesson is full of interesting and mind-blowing concepts! Cikgu Saw always makes time and effort for weaker students while providing new challenges and resources for the faster ones. Despite being an extremely qualified teacher, he remains humble and constantly seeks to improve his teaching methods and materials.

Cikgu Saw has helped me to achieve an A for many SPM Science tests and exams. However, I have gained so much more than just mere results – the passion for Science! I am eternally grateful to Cikgu Saw who has helped and taught me. Thank you Cikgu Saw! You are my best ever teacher.

Yes and yes.

Cikgu Saw weren't only my teacher, he is my inspiration, my determination when I needed it, my motivator, my number one fan and my friend. I was very very lucky to have him as my teacher.

When I first had him as my teacher, I was young and didn't understand fully how much he did for his students. Growing up, I realized I never had— and don't think I ever will have—another teacher like him.

Growing up, and going to high school, I found out there is a huge difference in teachers. Some are teachers to get their paycheck, others are there to make a difference in their student's life. You were the only teacher who ever checked up on me, pushed me to be the best I could be, and never, for a second, gave up on me. You should be the role model for all teachers.

Finding an amazing educator is hard these days. You always went above and beyond and continue to do so. The memories you build with your students is amazing.

You make time for your students outside of the classroom, and right there that should tell everyone you care about them, more than just what they do in the class.

You are my hero, Cikgu Saw

Throughout my life I have been taught by a number of teachers in school and in tuition centre, all of whom have had some form of influence on me whether it be positive or negative. However, through this intellectual journey I have discovered many qualities that have distinguished my great teachers from the rest, he is no other than Cikgu Saw from SayPBS.

Cikgu Saw has certain qualities that distinguish him from the other teachers. He shows qualities such as patience, kindness, flexibility, resourcefulness, tolerance and open-mindedness. He also has a good sense of humour and is honest, humble, enthusiastic and most importantly enjoys teaching.

Cikgu Saw always smiles at his pupils and dedicates himself to the job. One special quality that I have most often found in Cikgu Saw is that he is able to be my friend. I do not know anyone better to trust and gain knowledge from than a friend. A friend is often a person that you remember for the rest of your life.

However, I also believe that there must remain a balance between representing an authority or a friend so that the student shows respect.

At one point during a year I remember having a very difficult time dealing with the death of my grandpa and he was able to comfort me and talk to me at a time when I needed it most. Whenever I just needed to talk to him he made himself available and that made me feel like he really cared about me and that my feelings mattered to him. For me, Cikgu Saw is someone who teaches not only with his mind but also with his heart. He is a person who truly cares about his pupils and their interests, wishes and feelings and is also someone that a student can confide in times of sadness or of joy.

I am proud to say that I am a student of Cikgu Saw and he has made me a successful adult today thanks to his excellent teaching and guidance and I would recommend his tutorial classes to anyone who wants a great teacher.

Sincerely

Cikgu Saw is my son tuition teacher and he is very popular among students. He teaches my son since standard 2. Now my son is already studying in the university and because of him my son also obtain scholarship from Monash university. He is like a friend and guide to the students. He maintains discipline in the class and he is also very polite.

He is strict with those who break discipline. Everyone in his tuition centre loves and respects him because he does his duty honestly. He takes pains to explain the lessons and gives my son moral lessons. He teaches my son by using games sometimes and try to guides my son in every possible way to be a better student. He leads a simple life and he is a man of noble ideals.

He advises my son in every moment of difficulty. He follows the principles of truth, non-violence and courtesy. He is a master of his subject. He can teach English, Bahasa Malaysia, Maths and Science very well. My son loves his lesson. My son always says he teaches Physics and Chemistry well better than the school. He taught my son very well until my son obtains 8A in SPM in 2011. His English pronunciation is very impressive and he teaches grammar very well. I like him very much. I would strongly recommend him to any parents who wants good tuition. We appreciate you Cikgu Saw.

It has been years since I graduated from high school and the best tuition I ever had was with Cikgu Saw. Cikgu Saw is a great teacher because he is prepared and organized. He is always in his classrooms early and ready to teach. He present his lessons in a clear and structured way. His classrooms are organized in such a way as to minimize distractions.

Cikgu Saw always engage students and get them to look at issues in a variety of ways. Cikgu Saw uses facts as a starting point, not an end point; he ask "why" questions, look at all sides and encourage students to predict what will happen next. He ask questions frequently to make sure students are following along. He try to engage the whole class, and he don't allow a few students to dominate the class. He keep students motivated with varied, lively approaches.

Cikgu Saw forms strong relationships with their students and show that he care about them as people. Cikgu Saw is warm, accessible, enthusiastic and caring. He is a masters of his subject matter because he is a Cambridge English teacher graduated from University of Cambridge. He exhibits expertise in the subjects he is teaching and spend time continuing to gain new knowledge in his field. He present material in an enthusiastic manner and instill a hunger in his students to learn more on their own.

Cikgu Saw is indeed my teacher, a great teacher. Thank you Cikgu Saw because you changed me for the better.

Defintely,

I am impressed by the openness and approachability of Cikgu Saw who foster positive relationships with the students. Together with the guidance and motivation of Cikgu Saw, my son performed much better in his school examinations and made vast improvements, doing reasonably well in all his subjects. I have full faith and trust in Cikgu Saw.

During class visits, I could feel the warmth and community bonding within the classroom. Cikgu Saw explained to me that they are doing all they can to propel students to greater heights by providing them with a holistic education curriculum. My son’s progress is certainly due to the efforts of good dedicated teachers like him.

Students are nurtured by good teachers like Cikgu Saw who possess the passion and serve as role models to others. He facilitate the children’s love for learning, and are helpful and supportive of all children regardless of race and religion.

I take this opportunity to thank Cikgu Saw for helping my son achieve 6A's in SPM in 2015.
